STAGECOACH GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

Online News Quarterly  - July 2010

What’s new at the GID? – We have recently applied for a grant from the Army Corp of Engineers to help with the costs of replacement of undersized and outdated lines and valves in Units I and III.  As I’m sure many of you recall we’ve had multiple line breaks in those areas in the past few months, mostly due to the ageing infrastructure.

Residential Irrigation Survey – Carson Water Subconservancy District (CWSD) is offering, AT NO COST, residential irrigation surveys.  Homeowners can receive guidance about efficient practices that help reduce usage and expense by implementing water conservation techniques.  A CWSD representative will check your water meter for any possible leaks, check proper settings on irrigation timers, observe each station to detect overwatering or improper sprinkler heads, rotors and drip lines.  Check for any broken or misaligned sprinklers and advise customers on most efficient times for outdoor irrigation with regard to weather and/or environmental conditions.  If you’re interested, contact us here in the office and we’ll give you more information.

Who’s Responsible? – If you are having plumbing troubles or broken water lines, we are not able to aid you in your repairs.  We are only responsible for the water distribution up to your meter; anything past your meter is the homeowner’s responsibility.  We are more than happy to turn on and off your water for you during regular business hours but there is an extra charge for weekend call outs.  Remember – it is illegal for anyone other than a GID employee to get into our meter boxes.  You really should know the location of your customer shut-off valve, it is the fastest way to get your water turned off in an emergency, and the easiest way during repairs.  Any damage done to our meters can be very costly, so if you would like to have someone come by and show you your shut-off valve just give us a call, we’ll send someone right over.
